The majority (almost 80%) recovers with one to two rounds of Flagyl (Metronidazole) or Vancocin, but an unlucky small percentage does not and can suffer for months. Everyone eventually recovers, however, unless other factors are involved such as advanced age or severe health problems. If antibiotics contributed to your c difficile, be careful about taking them again. (See CDI - Antibiotics). Some people can tolerate them without a problem; some develop c difficile again. (See Dr. Borody's article). For further information, see http://www.peggymemorial.org

That is a really good question. I know that there are a lot of tests that have false results, but I don't know why. Do you know what kind of test it was? Was it a PCR test?
Seems like most of us on this site take some kind of probiotic, so I hope someone with more information can answer your question. I will be watching because I think it is an interesting one.
How are you feeling now that the Dr. has treated you?
