It had never occured to me to use vinegar, but I was thinking along the same lines as you (to somehow stop the bacteria from getting from the anus to the urethra) and I have been blotting the area with a wet cloth after urinating, then applying a dab of coconut oil, which is supposed to be antimicrobial and is also moisturizing. I may try putting a few drops of vinegar on the wet cloth. Has the vinegar rinse combined with the estring worked to keep your UTI's from recurring? Don't you just hate all these antibiotics that have so many dreadful side effects? What you went through must have been dreadfully scary.I know the Cipro that I'm on now can have some pretty nasty side effects too, but it's necessary and so far I'm doing okay on it, other than the increased D.
Frogerina, I'm so sorry you're going through the same thing with the recurring UTI's. It's frustrating, to say the least. For the first time in my life, I have recently found myself wishing that I had been born male! They rarely have the issues with UTI's that we women have. My husband has never had one his entire life. Hence he's been on a lot less antibiotics than me over the years, so no c-diff either (thank God for that). And yes, if we didn't try to educate ourselves and always just blindly did what the doctors said, there's no telling what might happen.
