See FAQ-Vancocin (Including Conversion from IV to Oral Form).
Yes, to my knowledge, Viropharma is still the sole manufacturer of Vanco. There are several drug companies who are attempting to get acceptance for a generic version, but Viro. is blocking them -- so far. Check this out for yourself because I haven't checked this out recently. Check the patient assistance # listed in FAQ. It might still be "good."
Of course, meds. are cheaper in the UK, Roy, because a good percentage of your salary goes to taxes -- which cover your health care, meds., etc. The NHS does a great job with preventative health care and some other things, but good luck if you want to see a specialist. I've heard the wait can be a year or more. I don't want to be "in hospital" anywhere but would rather be in the US than the UK. (I go round and round with my son "the Brit" over this.)
