It is terribly nerve racking doing the Watch Wait Worry, and Bobbie's "3 Day Rule" is a sanity-saver for the time period you are in, it helps alleviate alot of that stress.
The symptoms you describe sound like mild cdiff and cdiff in the early healing stages for many. For others it has sometimes been a sign of relapse - so as long as you know you aren't getting 'sicker' try the 3 Day Rule. My personal philosophy put a whole new meaning to "living in the moment" - as in, "if I'm not sick this very moment, then I'm getting better" it kind of kept me sane and kept me from worrying so much about tomorrow and next week.
Medical literature does not recommend treating milder cdiff, and it's best not to - your own natural flora can build back up once off of vanco/flagyl and getting off the meds reduces the possibility of creating resistant cdiff, VRE, and/or other resistant diseases.
It's best to wait 10-14 days to test after finishing the meds. It's very possible to test positive and not be extremely ill, so if you're on the mend, testing is pretty much just a choice for you and your doctor. I tested positive after 30 days of vanco and my symptoms were mild enough to stay off but I continued probiotics and yogurt and so on. That was in Oct. and I was finally negative (accurately, I think!) in Feb.
So hang in there - let's hope you got it beat and are now on the mend!
