Hi everyone
I was diagnosed with cdiff 10 days ago. Seems i developed cdiff after a course of antibioitcs that were given for a dental infection. I am now 10 days in on vanco and flagyl and my watery diarrhea is no better. I am typcially going to the bathroom 4 or 5 times a day. I also suffer with Ulcerative Colitis, although this was in remission for several years. Just wondering if others could share how long it took before they had a normal/normalish return to bowel movement. I really thought i would be experiencing some improvement by now.
Thanks for any advise
Day 10 of vanco and flagyl and still no improvement

Re: Day 10 of vanco and flagyl and still no improvement
Flagyl in no longer recommended for c.diff and flagyl + vanco together has never been recommended for the initial treatment.
Possibly it's the combination of meds causing antibiotic associated D that's not c.diff related. (taking both together will be causing immense damage to your "good" flora)
UC complicates things and possibly it's that causing ongoing symptoms.
If symptoms continue fire your Dr and see another, hopefully more experianced one.

Hello and Welcome to the site Please read the first thread for all new posters
I have not heard of someone taking both Flagyl and Vanco. As Roy mentioned, Flagyl is no longer indicated for CDIFF. If you have a history of UC, this can be m ore difficult. I imagine you have a GI, but not sure who put you on both medications together. Maybe it's time to get a 2nd opinion?
Or possibly see an Infectious Disease specialist.
Take care and I hope you feel better soon

Re: Day 10 of vanco and flagyl and still no improvement
When I had cdiff, in 2005-06, for my third relapse my GI doc prescribed both Flagyl and Vanco. The combination made me so sick that I couldn't eat at all. So I stopped the Flagyl and continued with just Vanco. Eventually what cured me was pulsing Vanco.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have a referral for a GI doc, so hopefully see someone next week for a second opinion.
