Anyone have info on the c diff vaccine?
I saw the initial vaccine failed but it looks like pfizer is currently holding clinical trials. I wouldn’t mind working in health care but the risk of infection just terrifies me. An effective vaccine sure would be amazing.

at a guess it's at least 10 years away.

I was hoping this could be a thing in 4-5, how great would it be. Guess it’s nice they’re acknowledging the need.

I saw an article recently that a vaccine will be available as soon as 2020 from Pfizer

I think the vaccine that's under development will only protect people from an initial C. diff infection, not from recurrence. If there's information to the contrary, please weigh in.
If your illness was preceded by use of a medication, e.g., an antibiotic, please fill out an FDA Adverse Event Report at http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm

Last year a "B" toxin neutralizing antibody vaccine was approved to prevent recurrence of c diff for high risk patients per Merck which will be a $250 million product

Merck product was bezlotoxumab, AKA Zinplava

Re: Anyone have info on the c diff vaccine?
Allis is correct.
A vaccine, if it's ever brought to the market will only be usefull if you never had c.diff.
it will not prevent infection but it will teach our immune system not to react to the toxin.
Asymptomatic carriage is the best the vaccine will offer.
If you have already had c.diff you probably already have the antibodies that the vaccine will produce.
Posters often pray for a vaccine but it's only usefully for preventing c.diff in future generations, (think clostridium tettani) it will not cure anyone who has an active infection.
