FMT Placement

Postby Roxanne » Mon Mar 19, 2018 9:43 pm

I read somewhere a year ago with my first one, not to have it placed in a certain area as it can cause problems.

Does anyone recall what area to avoid and what problem it can cause?

Have it again, going in Friday for an FMT

Hi Roxanne, I remember reading about that also. You may be talking about it being placed in the end of the small intestine vs. the cecum which is the colon. You could be at greater risk of SIBO possibly.
I ended up developing SIBO over the last year after my FMT anyways. But it can have a variety of causes and that has yet to be determined with me.
Good luck to you with your procedure!

What you are talking about is where the small intestine connects to the large intestine (terminal ileum). I would ask the doctor to just put it in the colon.

Thanks everyone! I canceled the FMT due to medical issues that I can't handle the prep :( Dr is against the Dificid taper, so now I have to find another Dr.

Some people had success with FMT enemas. Some even do it at home.

Roxanne call Mayo jacksonville Florida and ask if they have available pills Fmt, last time I checked they told me they will have available pills. If you're Dr not agree with deficid taper find a infectious disease DR.

It does seem more practitioners are offering the FMT capsules now. You may want to check on that like Lidia pointed out. There has been a lot of press lately that the capsule treatment has as high of a success rate. I don’t know if it’s a legit amount of studies proving that, but in your case it could be a good option. And even if you had to travel, you would just be taking pills and waiting around in an office. No prep, no anesthesia. None of that.
