It has been just over a year since my third, and final, treatment for c.diff. While I had a fairly mild case of c.diff, my recovery was a slow and arduous process as I was left with a lingering case of PI-IBS which meant that for many months I could not enjoy the foods, and beverages, I enjoyed pre-c.diff without some horrendous consequences (will spare you the details).
Around 6 months, I finally started to be able to relax some, enjoy a more varied diet, and not spend every waking moment worried about a relapse. Now at over a year out can honestly say that the thought, and concern, of c.diff barely crosses my mind and while I still experience mild PI-IBS it does not dominate my life and is usually easy to manage.
If you told me a year ago this is where I would be today, I might have laughed directly in your face as it was beyond comprehension in the depth of the hell that c.diff creates that there would ever be an end but trust me, it does! I will always be wary of antibiotics, and a recent case of the stomach flu had me terrified, but 99% of the time c.diff is not a factor for me and hope it will be the same for all of you currently going through this awful illness!

Congrats. Wise to be careful of antibiotics in the future but sometimes they are necessary.
C diff can "mark" you forever. Nasty stuff.
