3mo post Extreme Gas/Bloating
I am 3 months post FMT and am experiencing what I would consider excessive gas and bloating with D. The gas moves around and its difficult to expel. My doctor has essentially written me off and said to take Gas X. I am wondering what is causing this. It does not seem to be related to any certain food but everything I eat, I immediately blow up. Has anyone else had this experience? Is it something that will get better with time? However, it seems so unnatural I cannot imagine it resolving itself.

I had that when I had SIBO. There is a breath test to see if you have that. Did you have FMT via colonoscopy or upper endoscopy or pills?

Gas and bloating are not unusual , but diarrhea is a concerning symptom. If you have multiple bouts of diarrhea per day more then three days you should ask to get tested.

I had the same experience and my doctor said it could be the probiotics. I lowered my dose of Florastor to 1 pill a day and that helped a little bit. I'm now almost 5 months post FMT and I still have days like that but they are far less then they were.

Florastor gave me D and a ton of gas too. In fact, a lot of probiotics do not agree with me. I found VSL#3 that I do well with if I take a small dose. If you are taking probiotics, maybe try and stop for a few days as was suggested. I could no longer tolerate dairy either, even after FMT.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I will stop probiotics and see if that helps. Has anyone ever heard of having a second FMT via colonoscopy even after the infection is clear, just to aid in the healing process?

My GI recommended doing home FMT enemas after my colonoscopy transfer.

Hi Rosie. Just wondering if the gas & bloating resolved and how you are going? I'm having the same issues following FMT 2 months ago.
