I posted someplace else and I can't find it but I just got the call back that they retested my stool and I know tested positive for the antigen and the toxins. I finished a 10 day course of Flagyl on December 10 I thought it was gone but through the week I could tell symptoms were coming. My first test said positive for antigen negative for toxins ,now after treatment I have both the toxins and the antigen.
They prescribed me vanco 125mg but only twice a day for seven days which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I've had about five bouts of diarrhea since 9 o'clock last night. Does vanco usually have better success then flagyl?

Re: Question
Yes, vanco has a better success rate, but that is not a dose to treat an active infection. 125mg 4 x per day is what is usually given. I would speak to your doctor and ask if you can take it 4 x per day and then taper down. Tapering vanco has a better success rate than stopping abruptly as well.

Re: Question
Vanco has a higher cure rate the Flagyl and unlike Flagyl , vanco is actually FDA approved for CDiff treatment , and also is well tolerated , less side effects because is not absorbed into the bloodstream.Hope this course of meds does the trick!

Re: Question
Question your Dr about the vanco.
That's only a quarter the dose that treats c.diff
Normal treatment is 125 x 4 a day for 14 days.
What you have been prescribed is VERY likely to result in a relapse.

Tanya - Here is a link to your original post, as I had moved it, since it was posted under success stories.
