Linton's story.

Postby Linton » Sun Sep 07, 2008 6:21 am

I am a 37 year old male from Australia. For over fifteen years I have suffered with chronic diarrhoea. Thank God for Imodium Melts. In this time I have seen many doctors and specialist and was unfortunatley diagnosed with IBS. Just by chance my father was speaking to a friend who suggested I go and see a Prof Barody. After 5 minutes of my consultation and explaining all my symptoms he diagnosed me with C Diff. What a relief to find that this wasnt all in my mind and finally there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

So now I have some clarity on what I have been suffering for so so long.

I have recently finished 2 courses of Salofalk to no avail and now I am currently trying Colazide which I have been on for 2 weeks now but haven't seen any improvement. I know it is still early but I would assume that I have been suffering for so long that it may take a little longer for these drugs to take any effect.

I am hoping that I will see an improvement soon and hope it will lead to a more normal life.

Linton's story

Well I have just finished a round of Colazide to no avail. My symptoms have not changed so back to Prof Barody in November.

A friend advised me to try pro-biotics so I decided I would give it a shot. After 2 days of taking a mega acidophilius I started forming normal stools to my suprise. For the next three weeks I only had loose stools on maybe 3 occasions. No more waking up in the middle of the night running to the toilet. It was great for that 3 weeks, I felt like a new man. Unfortunately my symptoms have returned again. I think I wil have to try this VSL#3 as it is supposed to contain the most good bacteria out of all the brands. I am now quite positive that pro-biotics may have a role in conquering my c-diff. I am ordering it this week. Fingers crossed it will help.

Linton's story

It has been a while since my last post and I must say I have never felt this great for well over a decade.

I have just finally finished 3 months of being on Vanco and Flagyl. After visiting Prof Barody in late November he put me on a dose of Vanco plus Flagyl. I had been taking 500mg of Vanco with one Flagyl tablet in the morning and the same dose repeated in the evening. Prof Barody said that he had found that it was probably the most effective way to kill cdiff.

I finished my last tablet last night and feel like I have my life back. My stools have not completely formed as yet but at least it isnt like water so I cant complain.

I can now go out and eat without the fear of having to run straight to the toilet after a few mouthfulls. I dont wake up in the middle of the night having to rush to the toilet and thank God, no more pain and that dreaded smell.

I suppose the next few weeks will determine how effective the treatment was but so far so good.

I have another apointment with Prof Barody in May and I am hoping that the consultation will be positive. I am so glad that I had found someone like Barody who truly understood my condition and has shown me the light at the end of the tunnel.
