On Thanksgiving Day 2003, I was bit on the nose by a dog at my professor's house. A trip to the ER was necessary, where I received ten stitches and a prescription for clindamycin. Exactly three days after I completed the antibiotic, I had serious diarrhea and nausea, followed by bloody/mucousy stools. I went to the hospital, was treated for the stomach flu, and sent home. Two weeks later, I was still sick, and worse. Follow-up doctor finally tested my stool. I was referred to a GI specialist a week later. Today, I saw him for the first time, and he announced I have C. Difficle in my system at an "alarming rate" and prescribed me flagyl, which I'm picking up tomorrow. I've been sick for over three weeks now, and he told me I will probably have reoccurences and such. I'm actually afraid now, especially after poking around this website. I'm severely lactose intolerant, and have always suffered from GI problems. I'm 22 years old.
