My daughter, Rachel, is 11 years old. On 2/10/02, she began taking Amoxicillin for a sinus infection. On 2/11/02, she woke up with nausea, upset stomach and diarrhea. She grew progressively worse that week until she was diagnosed with C-diff on 2/16/02. She began Flagyl that day. On 2/19/02, her symptoms were worse, so Flagyl was stopped. On 2/20/02, she went to the ER, was given Phenergan and IV fluids. She was much better until today, 2/25/02, when she again woke up with nausea, intestinal pain and diarrhea. She's about to start Vancomycin. Will keep you posted.

We're now 8 days into a 14-day course of Vanco. She's better, but not as much better as we'd like her to be. She still has intestinal pain, loose stools and nausea - not constantly, but frequently. Also, started acidophilus 6 days ago. Will be starting Culturelle instead when it arrives this week.

Well, I think it's safe to say that Rachel's on the way to a full recovery. She's eating fairly normally, still no dairy products or spicy/greasy foods, though. She's on no medication for the C-Diff. The only symptom she has now (nausea) seems to be related to the Culturelle. We're keeping our fingers crossed that she's beat it after a miserable 2 months.
