Tammy's Case History

Postby Tammy » Mon Oct 16, 2006 3:38 am

I was diagnosed with CDIFF August 8,2006.
I started taking Flagyl and had horrible side effects and kept getting sicker
so my Primary Care Physician admitted me in the hospital on August 21,
2006.I tested positive again for CDIFF while on the Flagyl so they took me
off Flagyl and put me on Vancomycin (125mg 4 times a day for 14 days)
and I started seeing improvement almost immediately.
I got to go home frome the hospital on August 23,2006.
I finished the Vancomycin and 5 days later I relapsed and was put back on Vancomycin (125mg 4 times a day for 14 days) and Cholestyramine(1
packet a day)
Through my CDIFF ordeal I have taken
1-Culturelle (2 a day)
2-Dan Active Yogurt (2 a day)
3-Activia (2 a day)
4-Lifeway Kefir (1/2 a bottle a day)
These products are pretty cheap as I am limited on funds.
Currently I am still doing all of those things and taking the Cholestyramine
and I have been off the Vancomycin for 21 days and Ive had symptoms on and off (very scary)
Im waiting on all my results for the three day stool tests.
My symptoms with CDIFF have been weird and different from some people
Ive experienced light headedness, dizziness, brain fog, slight memory loss,
headaches,ear pain and fullness,body aches,muscle pain,weakness,
nausea,wierd taste in my mouth,white tongue,tiredness,sleepiness,gas,
stomach pains,menstrual like cramping,dry mouth,depression,anxiety,low
body temp.(95.0-97.0),insomnia,some diarrehea,no blood, very small amounts of mucous, lower back pain, irregular periods, hemmoroids, and so forth (wow no wonder I was sick)
I went from thinking that I was going to die to coping with it.
I really dont think that I could have made it so far without the help of this website and all the wonderful support of you guys.
Even if I still have CDIFF at this point I am more stable mentally than I was 2 months ago.
Thank You all so much for the support and advice,
Tammy
