Hi Bill. My Walgreens had to order the 125mg tablets also. They got them in the next afternoon, so have your pharmacy order the prescribed dose for you. And fire this GI doc. Find just an internist or family practice doc locally, and ask to be referred to an infectious diseases specialist.
You may not have C diff. You might have giardia, or salmonella, or cryptosporidium, or any number of other pathogens making you miserable. You might have some kind of inflammatory bowel condition that was triggered by the original C diff, or maybe something completely different. You will never find out, since this "doctor" isn't willing to order you any tests. Vancomycin won't kill salmonella or giardia, by the way.
So, if your pharmacy won't order the prescribed dose (which really shouldn't be a problem for them), fire the pharmacy and take your script elsewhere. Even a Wal-Mart pharmacy should give you better customer service.
And, get to a primary care doc ASAP who will treat you like you deserve to be treated, order extensive tests to make sure you don't have some pathogens in there, and refer you to a different specialist.

Re: Imodium-D for c.diff symptoms
Good news to report. Received vanco finally and started this morning. I also have an appointment with my PCM this morning. Many thanks to everyone for your advice and encouragements. The value of seeing what others are going through and the loving encouragement of those who have or are dealing with the c.diff medical process has been invaluable to me and my outlook in providing HOPE and knowing I'm not alone.

Hi! Even though Im late for this topic I just wanted to share my thoughs on the possibility of you having C. Diff. If it is like everyone says in their comments about Imodium being a No-No!!! in someone suspected of having C. Diff (which I agree because of the retention of toxin will worsen the condition) THEN, you have proved that you do NOT have C Diff since it will unequivocaly exacerbate/worsen ur condition (which it wasn't ur case). Also, the so-called tests of cure following treatment are not recommended because many patients continue to harbor the organism and toxin after diarrhea has ceased and test results do not always predict recurrence of CDI. Finally, the most common cause of chronic diarrhea is a NONINFECTIOUS PROCESS (the list is looooong). So in my opinion, your work up for determination of etiology/cause should had been broader!!!
