systemic yeast infection

Postby gm37 » Mon Jul 05, 2010 11:17 am

This topic showed up in another thread and I just wanted to put it out here so that it could get some more attention. I was wondering if anyone had any other information about this condition.

Thanks.

I was diagnosed with it a month ago. Since then I have been on Diflucan and my major symptoms which I wrongly thought were normal post C-Diff have cleared completely up. I was on Flagyl, Vanco, Xifaxan for 6 months and I had thrush of the mouth 8 times. My first GI said there was no way I could have systematic yeast overgrowth because I would have to have a quote "severely compromised immune system" Umm HELLO???? I had C-Diff for 6 months and 70% of my immune sytem was knocked out. Finally while at my general Dr. for something unrelated to C-Diff I asked her to look at my tongue and throat. She said I had thrush pretty bad and when I told her I just felt awful all the time she suggested yeast overgrowth and put me on 7 days of Diflucan, day 2 of it I started feeling better. My GI confirmed her initial diagnoses and he has put me on Diflucan for 3 months. He said this is a very real problem for people who have been on strong AB's for a long time. I am 99% better since being treated for this and I encourage anyone still sufferring to talk to their Dr. about this. It causes white tongue, nausea, sweats, chills, no appetite and extreme anxiety. I had all the classic symptoms and now they are all gone.

yeast over growth

Postby Mia-Mia » Mon Jul 05, 2010 1:15 pm

Very possible. Keep in mind Now you are gonna get posts from people stating Diflucan was very hard on their stomach. We all have to remember that every medicine effects everyone differently. Good luck. Their are also alot of natural remedies to yeast. i did really good on difulcan but only took it for 2 days.

Great Post!!!!

I'm going to re-cap about what I have been going through.
I tested positive for C diff in January. After taking the Z pak. I was placed on Flagyl for 10 days. Afterwards, my intestines would do strange things, and would lead me to believe I was suffering a relapse. However, everytime I tested for C diff, it was negative. I have had 6 negative tests, and I knew something was still wrong. My GI tract wasn't the same, I felt awful, I started having severe anxiety, depression, & thoughts of death. I repeatedly called my GI Doc, who told me that I should just deal with it. It wasn't going to kill me. Well mentally I was dying. I couldnt just "deal with it." I asked for a referral to an IDD, he looked at all of my previous tests, saw that I had 6 negative tests, a colonoscopy, a ct scan, & lots of blood work. He stated to me that I had the "million dollar work up" and this was part of the normal healing process. He said I was suffering from PI IBS. I left there feeling hopeless. And I thought to myself that I just need to accept this as a part of my life, and try & move on. Just days after that I had the most severe anxiety attack of my life. I couldnt stop shaking, I scared the heck out of everyone. I was going to quit my job, because the attacks became crippling. I wanted to die, and I'm someone who is terrified of death! Yet I found myself accepting it. I posted about how much I was suffering. (Thank you to everyone who PM'ed me)
My Mom was so worried, she sent me to a natural doc. I was so skeptical. I didnt believe in natural medicine. I was thinking to myself, I went to numerous specialists, what can this supposed natural doc possibly do for me???? My Mom had told me that this particular Doc has accurately diagnosed others in the past, when other Docs failed. So I decided to give it a try. He used a meter. I cant tell you what kind, all I know is it was a meter. The meter pointed out that, I was indeed sick & when he placed the remedy on the meter, the meter showed that I had a systemic yeast infection throughout my entire body. I was shocked. The first thing I said to him, was no that couldnt be right, my girl parts don't itch. Then he repeated the diagnosis, "Systemic" He gave me two herbs; Pau'D Arco, and Caprylic acid. He also placed me on a strict diet for one month. The anti-Candida diet. I felt a difference almost immediately. I couldnt believe it! My instestines were actually quiet!!! I started to get head aches that first & second day. I thought it was because I cut out all of the caffeine, but when I looked up & read more about candida, it stated that you go through something called the "die off" phase. Headaches, and weakness is actually a good thing, it means the yeast is dying. When it dies, it releases toxins. There is an enzyme you can take that eats the yeast die off, but I decided to deal with the die off phase. It was a lot better than what I have been going through lately!

As of right now, I have no anxiety, my intestines have been quiet, and the M is gone from my stools.

I'm not out of the woods yet, but so far so good.
I'm really upset with all of my docs none of them listened to me! I did not have PI IBS, I have a systemic yeast infection!!!!

I will continue to post on my progress. Please pray for me. I'm praying for all of you as well.

I read carefully all your posts ad it seems, i am exactly in the same case that JenniferH. I kept on seiing my GI who says there is nothing and doing Cdiff tests which are all negative, except I am awful and I have weird symptoms, sore intestines, sore throat, running nose; D and C, M in the stools and eczema behind the neck, everyone says I am too anxious and that is why I have all this symptoms. (or is this the opposite?!!) After some researches, I strongly believe I am infested by yeasts, stools test showed yeats several times but never treated, because I don't have immune deficiency according to docs. Well, I am aneamic, can't gain weight and I have immunoglobulin deficiency, but not too severe to treat me according to all the specialists I have seen! I took an appointment with an homeopath and will see what diagnostic he will have.

Hi all,

Piwood. I am in the exact same situation. Cdiff tests are negative. However, chills, warmth inside my body, weird abdomen, palpitations and so on
To be exact, I cut down the sugar completely out of my diet and that was my clue: no more mucus in stool and no more yellow stool. However, diet alone doesn’t cure you. I went to countless doctors and all I get quote : if you have yeast, you will be in the ICU. I am desperate to get diflucan as it is systemic. This is a real problem for people with C diff and after antibiotics. I tried the obgyn, only gave diflucan 3 days. I tried 3 gastro so far. 2 NPs. I am on some herbal liquid formulas but I guess this yeast of mine needs diflucan. How are you feeling? I get the tingling, the chills, headaches, very very fatigued. I also noticed excema, and what looks like nail fungus, as well as hives and joint aches. These people are ignoring me I am not sure how to get someone to prescribe diflucan. I am exhaused making appointments and running from an office to another

If several Drs say you dont have a yeast problem its advisable to listen to them.
If they suggest you need meds to help with anxiety problems you should listen to that as well.
Diflucan is often given as a single dose to treat candida, one tablet is all that's needed for many people.
I dont know if it's the same in US but here in UK Diflucan is the active Ingrediant in many over the counter meds, no Drs prescription required.
