I have been off VANCO for 30 days. I am still not eating as much as I would like. I now have food urges but have not given in.
I ate cantalope but had D* and cramps and pain.
I cant stand this anymore. Well I can but i am sick of it.
I eat
oatmeal
baby pears
applesauce
rice
eggs
bread
butter or margarine
mayonaise
chicken
hamburger
turkey
green beans
yogurt
kefir
protein drinks (rice)
potatoes
sweet potatoes
green tea
peppermint oil
water by the gallons
any suggestions?
I have been taking Reutiri probiotic. Vitamin D and Calcium, B 100 complex, 3 omega 3 oils per day and sometimes apple pectin
Day by day the rumblings, trapped gas, pain, discomfort is different sometimes slight sometimes bad.
Why is the 70-90 mark off meds important? I know I do not have c diff anymore but am afraid to eat I do not want to create worse pain. Am I just thinking about this too much? I have lost 33 pounds in 3 1/2 months.
Have not worked.
Need some reassurance thanks all.

I am pretty much in the same situation as you are. I am about 3 1/2 months off vanco and had a stool transfer. Last year I had the same thing happen after my first round with c diff for 7 months. I was c diff free for another 7 months until I took AB again. During the time I did not have c diff, the food intolerances were really bad and I continued to lose more and more weight. After having just about every test there was to have, I had a lactulose breath test that showed an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine (SIBO). I was treated for that with Xifaxan and it helped some, but not completely. I don't want to do that again now.
The doctor suggested that I try one new food every 4 - 7 days. You are lucky you can eat yogurt. I have not tried dairy in almost two years now, but will start. I find that if I puree the vegetables or have them in soup, it is easier. It was also suggested to me to try digestive enzymes. I tried prescripion ones before and they upset my stomach, but I am going to try the OTC ones. Some people say they help to prevent the gas and cramping and hopefully D. The SIBO specialist I saw last year was in favor of them as they help to digest the food higher up, so that prevents the problem in the small intestine or colon I guess.
I have started to take glutamine powder mixed in water before dinner and it seems to help some. It is supposed to help heal the intestines, is an immune booster and is supposed to help with not losing more weight (anti catabolic). I don't know if it helps or not, but it is doing no harm so far. If you drink protein drinks, they may already have glutamine in them. Most do. My GI said it also has some benefit for the stomach as I tested positive for h pylori. He also told me to take colostrum, which I haven't been doing yet. Both of these are OTC in vitamin stores. The bovine colostrum has lactoferrin that another poster mentioned.
I don't know about you, but I can eat one thing one day and it doesn't bother me and if I have it another day it does. It makes it very difficult to figure out what works and what doesn't. I plan to introduce the foods every week now and just start out with small quantities. I am totally fed up with all of this. It has been over two years for me.
You didn't mention pasta on your list. It is usually pretty easy on my stomach. You can try some cooked in broth first and if that agrees, then next time try it with some sauce. I also can tolerate meatloaf - made from ground beef or from ground turkey. Steak is no problem for me, but I never stopped eating it. The foods I took a break from are the ones that bother me now. I also eat croissants to help me gain a little weight, as one is about 300 calories.
You might also try fish if you like it. It is pretty easy on the intestines.
Good luck. I know all too well how frustrating this is.
