How do the measurements work for IV Vancomycin?
Is 125mg of IV Vancomycin the same as a 125mg capsule?
What's the ratio for reconstituting it?
IV Vancomycin given orally

Talk to your pramacist about the dilution ration...then use an eye dropper to measure out the the amount of liquid to be added to the concentrate. Make sure that you shake it wel, use the eye dropper to measure out your prescribed dosage and the refrigerate the remaining solution. Don't panic about mixing it, as it's extremely easy. It was and is my understanding that 125 mg's of Vanco is the same in liquid or oral form. Mixing the doseage from the IV concentrate is just way, way, way cheaper. Now that I think about it your pharmacist should have given you the directions when you picked up the vanco.

The majority (almost 80%) recovers with one to two rounds of Flagyl or Vancocin, but an unlucky small percentage does not and can suffer for months. Everyone eventually recovers, however, unless other factors are involved (advanced age, other severe health problems). If antibiotics contributed to the C. diff. be careful about taking them again. (See FAQ-Antibiotics.) Some people can tolerate them without a problem; some develop C. diff. again. (See Dr. Borody’s article.)
