Increase in UK cases and deaths

Postby GtrGrl » Fri Apr 28, 2023 7:47 am

Consultant Medical Microbiologist on Twitter, tweeting from conference:

‘There has been a 25% increase in C diff cases in U.K. but 10% increase in mortality - not yet similar findings in other countries. Prof Wilcox #IPC23.

“If you don’t look, things can go out of control”

Ribotypes stable - so what is driving it?’

Possible that it’s (at least partly) due to consultants who STILL think Metronidazole is correct treatment? Worrying trend regardless. Phage treatment needed asap.
Contracted C Diff from a round of Flucloxacillin, November 2020.

Metronidazole - Metronidazole - Dificid - Dificid - Vancomycin - Upper GI FMT - Vancomycin - Vancomycin - Lower GI FMT

Yes, I think I would like to see a phage treatment option!
