Paxlovid and cdiff

Postby u226542 » Wed Dec 07, 2022 5:11 pm

Hello. I have not had a cdiff flare up since January 2020. At that time, the infectious disease MD explained that any future course of antibiotics would require concurrent vancomycin therapy. I just tested positive for covid and paxlovid has been prescribed. Paxlovid is an antiviral and different from an antibiotic...but...I am still concerned. Does anyone have experience with taking paxlovid? Thank you.

Welcome and sorry for the lack of response. The site was down for awhile. I don't have an answer for you but there may be someone on here who has taken this medication. It is not an antibiotic so unless there is a manufacture warning on the label( you can check with pharmacist) I do not think its related

Always check with Pharmacist, they are up on all contraindications..

Hope you feel better soon

Late to this so you may already be on the Pax (best to take asap, apparently): as far as I know there is no link but advise taking a good probiotic (perhaps containing S Boulardii) for extra support.
