Hi,
I'm planning to take a high dose of Saccharomyces Boulardii, 60 Billion CFUs per day for a month to see if I can beat this mild C-Diff infection.
Currently I'm taking 20 Billion CFUs per day for a few weeks now, no issues.
Does anyone know if it is dangerous to take such a high dose? If so, what could happen?
Thanks!
High dose of Florastor / Saccharomyces Boulardii ?

I would definitely check with your doctor before doing that. There can be side effects and if you have any heart issues, etc. it can make those worse I have read. Maybe someone can post who has taken high doses. I did not do well even on a regular dose of it and had to discontinue.

I agree with Beth, check with your GI or ID. I was not able to take this probiotic at all. It's important to see a physician for treatment.

What do you mean by mild c.diff?
S boulardi is a supplement but should also be regarded as untested medication.
Recomended dose should not be exceeded.
Self treating is not a good idea if you have symptoms.

I have not read any where that S. Boulardii can cause heart issues. It was tested in patients with heart failure and it did not harm them per this study.

Safe stool, no pain or any other symptoms. Toxins A and B are positive. I would like to try some other methods before resorting to antibiotics.

Re: High dose of Florastor / Saccharomyces Boulardii ?
I read that if it got into your bloodstream it could cause fungal infections systemically and the case study was someone who was affected in the heart. I can't find it now. If you have irritation and inflammation in the colon and the medication gets into your bloodstream it can cause issues. It must have gotten into mine because I got a rash from it and my stools got looser not more formed. I'm not saying not to do it, but ask your doctor before you do.

Seek expert advice!
Normal stool and no symptoms DOES NOT require treatment,
Testing positive DOES NOT indicate you have c. Diff colitis.
An experienced Dr would know that testing positive is just another form of normal if its not causing symptoms.
Treating just because of a positive test can often cause it to become a full blown symptom causing disease.
Currently your body and natural gut flora are quite happy to have the POTENTIALY pathogenic bacteria living alongside it but doing something that changes the "good guys" causes harm.
Your Dr should know the 1st rule of treating (or testing for) c. Diff is that you don't do it unless the patient has symptoms!!!
If the whole population was tested today one in twenty adults and three out of four babies would test positive, none need treating.
