FMT Initial GI Visit

Postby jackie24 » Sat Feb 19, 2022 7:32 pm

I have a visit on Feb 28th with the GI that’s going to do my FMT. I have since tested negative for CDiff but I am having some serious pain in the abdomen and I am still on the Vanco taper. Does anyone think they will turn me down for the FMT because I am negative? I am so nervous about this because I know it will come back once the medicine is stopped totally.

If you don't have c. Diff symptoms of frequent watery D and your testing negative your not a candidate for FMT.
The procedure has risks including introducing other diseases and in rare cases even death.
Theres a BIG differance between "needing" an FMT and wanting one.

Roy,

I am still on my Vanco taper so I believe that’s why I was negative. I am on the every other day pill. I can’t go down from that because that’s when my Cdiff symptoms come back. I am stuck!

I don't think they will turn you away if they already said it was okay. They expect a negative test if you are on vanco.

When you go for the FMT the infection needs to be cleared . And why did u test while on Vanco ? The test is accurate only when you test outside the course of meds.

Georgina

I tested because I was having loose stools but I knew it would be negative if on the Vanco. They are going ahead with the FMT on the 18th of March and I hope I am making the right decision. I am taking one Vanco a day until two days before the procedure.

Good luck with the FMT. I don't regret doing mine.
