Hi friends,
I am 10 months after my cdiff infection, I am still suffering a kind of IBS - not sure maybe mild to moderate IBS, but the reason for this post is to ask you for advice about treatment of fungal nail infection which I have since several months. The doctor prescribed topical antifungal product that is not a classical antibiotic, but the doctor mentioned that it contains antibiotic - it is topical, but I am not sure whether it is safe regarding cdiff. If I skip the topical antibiotic, there is a risk for the infection to require nail removal. So my question is: which is the bigger risk regarding cdiff: the topical antibiotic or the procedure of nail removal which requires local anesthesia ? (I already had this nail removed 10 years ago, now the fungal infection activated problems again so the nail removal will be needed for sure if I do not cure it with the topical antibiotic)
Thank you!

There are antifungals that have no antibiotics. My husband used one. You can ask your doctor if there is another one you can try. I have used a strong antibiotic ointment called Mupirocin (bactroban) and I had no problems, so I doubt that the medication would cause a problem, but check if one without any antibiotic is available to you.
