Yeast infection treatment option

Postby beccakb » Mon Jan 11, 2021 1:23 pm

Hi all. Short synopsis - got c diff in November 2020 after antibiotic use, treated with vanco. Relapsed 1 week after finishing antibiotics, treated again with vanco. I have been mostly symptom free since the start of December. Some reoccurrence of mucus and changes in stool but it has sorted it self out.

My OBGYN let me know I have a yeast infection (didn't notice any symptoms) and prescribed Diflucan. He knows about my c diff so I would assume he wouldn't prescribe that if he was worried. And I know it's an antifungal, but still has me slightly worried to use and somehow relapse.

I've looked through the forums and it seems like there's some who have thought that Diflucan caused their c diff relapse and others who have had no problem. Any other general opinions about using an antifungal when you're not too far out from your last relapse?

My mom took Diflucan after c diff and never relapsed. I took Nystatin, which is milder. Do they not prescribe creams for yeast infections anymore? I would ask and maybe try that first and if it doesn't clear, then use the Diflucan.

Boric acid suppositories have absolutely saved my life from yeast infections. I highly recommend looking into it! It saved me all throughout c diff battle. Sending you hope and love!
