I got a sample of watery, bloody D, and I should be able to make it to the lab right before it closes, headed there now.

I'm waiting for my test results, they should be in within two hours. I'm having a really rough morning, already had 8 BMs so far today.

The result is negative :(. I don't know what to do. I'm waiting for another call from the on-call doctor. I've been having bloody D all day, with a negative result, how is this possible?

It's possible that you might be dealing with something else along with Cdiff. You need to ask your doctor to test you for other conditions , like IBD (UC or Crohns ) .

Poppy,
That is great news. The blood might be a fissure or hemorrhoid. And the D could be food that eat or the PI-IBS . What is your diet look like?
Didn't you drop off two samples ? Is it mean they will test twice? Can you test a 2nd time to confirm for piece of mind.
If it was PCR test, PCR is very accurate. Most test are very accurate except the EIA Toxin test

I'll speak with my regular doctor tomorrow. I only had one sample tested (the others were rejected). Today I got a negative result for GDH antigen-toxin EIA test.

That is really good, negative GDH Antigen means you are not even a C-Diff carrier ( colonized)!

I guess I'll need to be checked for inflammatory bowel disease, like colitis or Crohn's.

Awesome news that the test was negative. You may have some bad post infectious ibs going on. I have internal hemorrhoids that will bleed quite a bit if I am going that much per day. I am 1.5 years out and I still have off days with d and some bleeding. From what I read on the site many have pi ibs that can cause almost identical symptoms as cdiff. Are you able to eat anything. It is possible you could have eaten some undercooked food or have some other type of stomach bug

Re: Vanco taper, update
Thank you for your reply JG43. Part of me is wondering if it's PI-IBS. My doctor will hopefully have some information for me tomorrow.
I felt nauseous this morning but have been able to eat. I'm eating bland foods, rice, plain toast, banana, water, plain chicken. Nothing unusual. I'm just trying to get through the day right now, there's a lot of rumbling and gas going on, and many trips to the bathroom. I have lost 12 or so pounds since I was first diagnosed in late March. I'm very small already, under 5 feet tall, I can't afford to lose more weight.

Just updating here - my doc is out of the office for a few days, but a nurse relayed the message to continue with my taper, and that I probably have PI-IBS with hemorrhoids. I hope that's what this is, and then I will work on managing the symptoms.

If i were your doctor , the first thing i would test you for (since you are clear of Cdiff) is a calprotectin test . It's a simple stool test that can give very precious details about whatever is happening in your gut .
