I have been coughing with mucus around one day after I started taking the Difcid and 3 days after I was at lab for blood work and pick up containers for stool test. I don’t have any fever, just cough. I wonder if Difcid can cause cough?
If not I might have I picked up a bug at the lab, I was wearing mask and the lab tech was also wearing a mask she seemed very healthy and no sign of cold of flue. I hope is not COVID 19

I have not heard of that as a side effect, but a pharmacist would know. Call the pharmacy where you picked up the prescription. They can look up side effects for you.

Minor GERD can cause cough and mucous.
Not unusual if your stomach is irritated.

I didn't have a cough on Dificid and I haven't heard of it as a side effect either. You probably picked up a bug or maybe it's a bit of spring allergies. Just what you need, I know!
32 y/o female. Got C. diff in Feb. 2020. Prescribed Flagyl (10 days), then Flagyl again (4 days), then Vanco (10 days), then Dificid (10 days), then Dificid again (10 days), then a Vanco taper (5 wks), then a Dificid taper (2 mths) and finally recovered.

Re: Can Dificid cause cough
Thank you all for your replies.
The cough and mucus originate for from the lung, not throat. Can that still l be caused by GERD?
The cough is not severe, just moderate comes and goes.
On mayo-clinic website, coughing is listed as less common side effect, and suggests to call you dr immediately . But, i called the pharmacist and she told me she does not find coughing on her list of side effect, not sure what website she uses.
I hope it is not related to , b/c I don't want to stop talking it. Knock-on-wood, but so far the Dificid has been working better than Vanco and Flagyl for me. Down to 1 bm per day, semi-formed/fluffy and no mucus after 3 full days of treatment..

That's great news! Hopefully things will just get better from here.
