Tired and scared

Postby Solost » Fri Feb 14, 2020 7:56 pm

Hello so I have kind of explained my situation before, here’s a fast explanation. I took some antibiotics for dental work in November about a week later I started feeling off didn’t do much but thought It was the weather. In Jan I went into the ER for bloody D that’s when I learned I had c-diff and ecoli. We started a 10 day Vanco started feeling better than the D came back they put me on a taper 7 days after I finished my first round. About three days later I went to the ER for painful cramps that’s when I got DIFICD. I am on day 7 of my 10 day. I have been feeling better but today I woke up so tired like I was before. The last two days I have actually had my energy back. I was out all day working (first time in 2 months.) but like I said today I am so tired I have no energy at all. I’m scared I’m declining again.

My period (tmi) is also starting tomorrow so I don’t know if that has something to do with it as well.

Is this normal? I feel like nothing that happens any more is normal or maybe a new normal. I’m scared I’ll never get back to who I used to be. I’m scared to ever make plans because I don’t know what I will be when I wake up. This group has helped me so much with everything I’m going through but haven’t found much on the whole tired aspect. I guess I just need some words of encouragement that I’m not going backwards again

Thank you.

Some medications can make you tired too. Xifaxan did for me and vanco to a lesser extent. If it continues, maybe ask your doctor to do a blood test and check electrolytes and for vitamin deficiencies. I used to get very tired right before periods too, so that is a possibility.

Thank you!

I feel so defeated I just don’t have energy to be who I used to be I try so hard to enjoy anything in life and it seems like a chore right now. I feel like I will never get better :( it’s been 2 months and I still don’t feel even 60% better I feel worse some days. I just want to feel better!!! I’m giving it another month before I feel like I will be completely defeated.

I dont know if it makes you feel any better but I right with you almost on exact same time frame. I am on day 5 of Dificid. This all started with me in November as well. I exhausted to but I also just go done fighting off influenza a and still working on a double ear infection with the c diff. I really don't have energy for anything. I had to call in my mom to help me out with my kids. I never been so low and have a tough time thinking I will ever be me again too. So what I trying to say is your not alone with any of your thoughts right now and how you feel. I think we are sailing the same ship. Hang in there. We will get through the sea one day.

Spike, thank you so much. To hear I’m not along as odd as this sounds I feel a bit normal hearing you have the same stuff. I am on my 5th day as well. I pray this is just the end of the storm. I had influenza as well when I found out also ecoli so I’m hoping it’s just our body’s are finally healing so we are just tired after the war we’re fighting. Thank you so so much for sharing.

You have been through a lot and I can tell you that after influenza it takes a long time to feel strong again too. I had it in 2016 and was hospitalized with complications, was given IV antibiotics and tested positive with c diff 6 weeks later after being negative for 4 or more years. Luckily, the D subsided and I did not have to treat the c diff, but it took me months to get over the fatigue and some other symptoms that the flu left me with. You might want to have your vitamin and mineral levels checked to see if you are anemic - iron, B12, B6. I was low on vitamin D and A. But, others had iron deficiency or B12. All of that can increase fatigue.

Your not alone. I was 45 when I got cdiff from amoxicillin. Prior to my diagnosis a typical week involved flying out for work on Sunday and back home on Friday, pretty much 8 months a year. I’d be up at 4:30 no matter where I was and have a workout in and ready to go by 6. After cdiff I was to exhausted to take a nap. March will be 1 yr and it’s all gone. I went through what your going through for the first 3-6 months, don’t quite recall when things really got better. You will put this behind you and more than likely be just like before.

Thank you guys so much,
A little update I finished my dificid yesterday morning and today I have a little bit of cramps I’m also moving going to school and buying a business all at the same time so im thinking it’s stress and the weather (I’m in co where isn’t a snow storm) I’m hoping each day I progress even a little as long as I don’t go backwards. Im hoping I’ve kicked this and just dealing with the healing now.
