Your Dr is treating by the book, but it's an old book!
Vanco is the correct med but might be more effective if it's tapered after the initial 10 day course.
It's worth asking your Dr about that.

Hi Bern,
I'm 13 weeks post Vanco taper/pulse. My GI kept me tapering and pulsing for 3 months and I do believe it was effective plus it made sense. I still have off days but 13 weeks is helping me feel hopeful! I hope you feel better!

So, how do you know the vanco is working? And is it "normal" for your belly to cramp and ache? Does that go away too? It hurts. Thank you so much everyone. You're keeping me sane.

If your D begins decreasing that's a good sign it's working. I was having solid BMs by day 3 on Vanco. Yes, cramping and pain is all very normal especially at the beginning of treatment.

Just wanted to add that my GI is doing a taper with the vanco. Does that sound reasonable? I'm on my 3rd day of vanco, yesterday had no real BM's, but today a few very loose ones and some belly discomfort. I guess it's not realistic for me to think it all goes away overnight, right? My Dr. says it takes a while for it all to resolve, so I'm on the right course. Thoughts anyone?

I answered you on this same question in your other thread. Try to stick to one thread as it is confusing otherwise.
