Feeling Weak and Defeated
Diagnosed with C Diff on 4/26/18. On my 2nd round of antibiotics (vanc). Feeling better but so very weak!!! Has anyone else had problems with weakness for this long? I try to walk a little and do light things throughout the day but I become exhausted and have to nap, not WANT to nap but HAVE to nap. I would like to get back to work but I can't imagine working a busy 12 hour shift right now (I'm a nurse). Yep, I'm a nurse but it is very different being on this side of the care team. I am having a very hard time coping with the fact that I can't just get over this and move on. Sometimes I feel lazy and unproductive but most of the time I'm too tired to worry about it.

I was extremely weak and tired for awhile, you have to take it easy on yourself. It is a major infection, just like you would take it easy if you had pneumonia, you have to do the same here :-/ I am praying for a quick recovery for you!

Hi Rumbly, welcome to the site. When you have a chance, take a look at our guidelines for new posters, first entry on the intro page.
Your fatigue only one month out from your diagnosis seems quite normal. In addition, antibiotics tend to cause fatigue. Not sure if you have any flexibility with your work schedule, e.g., the option of working part-time for awhile? If possible, try and return to your former routines gradually, without pushing yourself to the breaking point. Your stamina will come back as your infection recedes.

If your illness was preceded by use of a medication, e.g., an antibiotic, please fill out an FDA Adverse Event Report at http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm

Re: Feeling Weak and Defeated
Rumbly, in my case, I was very weak for several months after I contracted C-diff. My feet, ankles and legs ballooned painfully, and I was so weak that I had to lift up my legs with my hands to get dressed. I had problems eating anything! The only good "symptom" was that I was able to sleep (escape) frequently throughout the day.
Took me five months and a flagyl relapse and a vancomycin relapse and a vancomycin+tapering relapse before dificid came to my rescue. My strength gradually came back and I have fully recovered both physically and digestively.
After a few days of taking vancomycin I felt a lot better, but a few days after stopping the vanco, the C-diff returned.
Regards and wishes for your full recovery! Our nurses are our heroes and we've got to keep out nurses healthy!
