Relapse or IBS?

Postby greekkc » Tue Mar 20, 2018 3:24 pm

I finished a 10 day round of oral Vanco about 2 weeks ago. Was starting to feel OK and was having normal stool which was welcomed since I had IBS-D prior to the cdiff, still had some belching which I did not have prior to the vanco. Two days ago I had wierd symtpoms that sent me to urgent care-shortness of breath, clammy, sweaty, an achiness in me right arm between my shoulder and elbow, headache and the dreaded diarrhea-not terrible, but 2, maybe three times that day. I had tests done for my heart which were all OK. I asked if it could have anything to do with the cdiff and they said no. I have now had diarrhea for the last two days, again, maybe 2 or three times/day and some discomfort in my lower abdomen. I have an appt with a PCP on Thursday. How do I know if it is cdiff starting again? Isn't it too early to do a stool sample since it will no doubt be positive? How do I know if it is active cdiff again? I don't want to start a vanco taper and re-invent that whole cycle again just as I am restoring my gut flora with probiotics. Any thoughts?
