Another infection

Postby Sez123** » Wed Feb 07, 2018 10:16 pm

Guys I’m in shock

So I posted that I was on Keflex for mastitis few days ago. (8 weeks post flagyl treatment)

Well I had a dental blister that I thought I’m going to check out as I don’t want that to be an infection so I went to the dentist just then

That blister IS an infection. She said I would’ve needed antis too. I refused and told her abt c diff etc so she just extracted it

I cannot believe my luck.

Atleast I went to her before it became too bad. This way I’ve for now avoided antis

When will my luck change. I just cried in her office :(

I finish Keflex tomr Then the waiting game starts of if these bastards (cdiff) are going to Come alive again post Keflex

Hi, wow you are going through it.. I know you feel like you had bad luck, but actually it sounds like you had a fortunate outcome with the dental situation.
Good you decided to go ahead and have it checked out. All of my c Diff issues actually started with a gum infection and clindamycin from a Dentist.
Make sure to remember how important it is for your immune system to sleep and eat right and to minimize stress as much as possible in the coming weeks.
I have certainly seen many posters who have taken antibiotics and have not had a recurrence. Make sure you ask others for help if you need it and that you have a real health situation that could be problematic if you don’t take care of yourself.

Did she extract the tooth or the blister?

Yes thank you for reminding me to rest. It’s so hard with two kids but ur right it’s imperative for immunity

That’s so good that ppl have indeed taken antis without issue. I wish they would post more. We only seem to hear abt relapses

Here’s hoping my luck changes soon

I have a 6mo and it’s been a terrible post psrtum journey

Hi Beth.

She extracted the tooth sorry I should’ve been more clear

In time I’ll go back for a crown or something

Just not worth the portal of potential infection

You have really been through it! When were you first diagnosed with C. diff? I am praying for you that it doesn’t reoccur xoxo

Oc mamma

I was diagnosed in November. One round of flagyl fixed it
This week would’ve made 8 weeks after flagyl ended.

So it’s ironic I’m on another round of antis

I’m off to the gp to make sure the mastitis has cleared fingers crossed. Last thing I need is another round

When u need antis. What do you go on??

Do you know if roxithromycin is the lesser evil ??

This is my first time maybe needing antibiotics for pneumonia post cdiff, I am 13 months out from My CDI. I was prescribed Bactrim (lower offender) but am holding off to see if it clears. I am super allergic to Vancomycin so I will be taking bio-k and florastor and tons of probiotic foods if I do need to take an antibiotic.

Oh dear

Ur doing the right thing stocking up on probiotics

Hope the pneumonia clears naturally but please have a low threshold for commencing on the antis as pneumonia can be quite serious as I’m sure you know (I had it ladt year for the first time )

Sending you healthy vibes
Xxx

Its best not to use the quote feature, it uses up space.
We lock threads at 2 pages.

Guys I feel like I’m relapsing

2 days after I finished keflex

I just had a borderline diarrhoea bm.
My gut tells me I’m relapsing

I will get a stool sample done tomr

I have flagyl at home in case. At what point should I take it ??

I don’t want to wait to give these things more time to germinate.

Do not self medicate, if flagyl has failed it will probably fail again.
Only 1 in 5 cases of antibiotic D is c.diff.
I would not be testing because of 1 or 2 soft BMs.
Ideal might be to wait and see if it resolves in a day or two.
If it gets worse and turns into copious watery D 3 or more times a day for 3 days it needs attention.
Again, DONT self medicate! Flagyl might not be suitable if its not a relapse and might even cause it to go full blown.

Ok thank you Roy. I’ll wait to see what happens
Hopefully will resolve on it’s own.
Thank you for taking the time to respond

If you still have D on Monday, you could ask your doctor for a test for c difficile. But, as Roy said, don't self-medicate.

Hi Beth
This morning I didn’t have “diarrhoea” but semi formed stool. It was more formed than yesterday was. Is that a good sign? My tummy just feels gurgly...

Problem is if I test today and it’s positive. De will treat. Legally has to I guess.

Would waiting few more days give them more chance to germinate and take over more??

I’m taking s boulardii and probiotics and drinking kefir miso etc

I’m at the gp now for another issue so I’ll takk to him but I just don’t think gps know what they’re doing to be honest
