Hi, Bob...I hope you didn't think I was saying you were wrong. I didn't get the same probiotic as you had stated. Mine is something like Nexabiotic. I didn't/don't know what a gram would be in terms of each pill, so I wrote the company to find out what to do. They're the ones who said to take 3 a day on an empty stomach between the vancomycin. Knock wood...I'm still taking the probiotic, but finished the vancomycin 2 and a half days ago...so far, so good. Thank you so much, Bob.

I have an appointment JUST made a few hours ago with a kidney doctor in a large city in a couple weeks. I'm in the process of getting disks of CT scans and ultrasounds. I just got home with one I was able to pick up and look at along with the report. Remember I said the kidney doctor didn't do a biopsy on the mass he took off the kidney nor the "thing" hanging off that my husband said looked like a string of spaghetti? Well, the report ALSO says that my liver is enlarged. I'm not fat...well a little overweight...I don't drink. The liver could be enlarged due to the bacteria in my system.

SO hoping this second opinion doctor can resolve this entire thing and also that the C-Diff stays away forever!! Shhh...keeping it quiet - no jinx!

Just an update...I guess since my initial C-Diff infection was so severe, I'm now on my third round. I REALLY thought it was over after the Vanco, but after 8 days, it returned. I DO have to say that the second round was nowhere near as bad as the initial bit and this third round is not as bad as the last one either. I now have to take Vanco along with Bactrim and the 3 times a day probiotics as I STILL have the kidney infection along with the C-Diff. In a couple more days I go to the large city hospital for the second opinion kidney doctor and next week to the GI doctor. FINALLY I am also being referred to an infectious disease doctor also in the large city. We are officially into the NINTH month of this doggone kidney infection....I think it's time this baby was taken out.

JEJ

It's always complicated when you have an infection( in your case Kidney) along with CDIFF. It's very wise to get a second opinion and treatment plan. If you continue on with an antibiotic, it could be a cycle and very tough to get rid of CDIFF.

Hopefully the new specialists will come up with a plan for you

Sorry you have relapsed JEJ. Glad you are able to see a infectious disease doctor , try to discuss about a course of Dificid with him , much better option then Vanco. Zinplava is also something that worth discussing about. Hope he will come up with a great treatment plan for you.

REALLY like my new kidney doctor...he's also not happy with there not being a biopsy when the blockage was removed. Anyhow, he's ALSO concerned about the antibiotics and took me off Bactrim unless the kidney infection worsens...told me to keep taking the Vanco and probiotic, did a bunch of tests and scheduled me for a CT again. Told me to also get a GI appointment (which I already have and is for next week).

I called this morning to cancel my appointment with the other surgeon and they wanted a reason. I said that I had something going on and I'd get back to them. They told me that if I gave a reason that the surgeon didn't think was good enough, that he would dismiss me. HAHAHA!! Seriously??? So, JUST like when I FIRST had him and ONLY wanted to go see my family doctor first, I will be getting another certified letter telling me he won't treat me anymore. Wow. Just wow.

Another update...finished week two of Vanco a couple days ago and am now on a two week maintenance vanco. GI doctor says the kidney HAS to be taken care of before anything GI is done, BUT the C-Diff HAS to be gone for both the kidney situation and GI. I DO now have an infectious disease doctor appointment also in the large city in a few weeks. CT with and without dye in a few days, blood work, gyno, kidney doctor and GI appointments all in January. These guys are really trying to get rid of all this and find out WHY the kidney infection is hanging on. Since no biopsy was done on the blockage taken off the kidney, a urine cancer check is being done. Thanks to Bob, I'm still taking a probiotic with the bacteria he said research showed I should have in conjunction with the vanco to get rid of this.

Thank you so much for your help in getting this resolved. Hoping I'm on the mend.
