250 vanconycin

I'm curios how many people were treated with 250 vancomycin 4/day. I used to be on 125 mg 4/day .
After my first FMT I did not do god on 125 mg 4/day. I'm a small person only 105 lb, lost 14 lb.
Dr. order me taper but I relapse on 125 mg4/ day after one week. Tomorrow I will meet my new GI from mayo to see if I can have one more FMT.
Thank you.

I took Vanco 250 4/day for 10 days. Then relapsed 2 weeks later and took 250 4/day and did a 3 month taper. That was not successful either in my case but it has been for many on the site

I was also started on 250mg 4 x per day. I relapsed and did a long taper that did not work once I got to 1 x per day. Had to have FMT.

I also had taken lots of courses of 250 mg of Vanco , never felt like symptoms were controlled when I was on 125 mg.

Hi again
Today I was at Mayo Clinic for second opinion and to see if a second FMT will be done.
The DR. opinion was first a curse of deficid for 2 weeks and will se if they will do second FMT or maybe medication long term ( indefinitely)
Wandering if I will ever recover.
Thank you for all your support.

I’ve taken 125 4X a day and relapsed. Then 250x 4x a day and relapsed. Then a 250x taper and relapsed. I ended up needing a combo of dificid and a FMT to finally beat c diff. But I have read others have been treated successfully with vanco...

Lid
If I were you I would push for a long course of Dificid followed by FMT at 48 h after the course is finished , I personally think that is the best combination to treat relapsing Cdiff.
Try to have some faith , you will recover but it takes time and lots of patience. Sending positive vibes your way!

I would definitely not take medication indefinitely. I was on it long term and it did me more harm than good. I would do as the doctor said and try the Dificid. If you feel better with the Dificid, call and ask about doing a taper with it.

Thank you all
I did ask for a taper deficid, DR order was 2 weeks, if not improving we do FMT, I got the email from Mayo last night.
Again many thanks. Lid49.

Glad you are going on Dificid, it may work as it has for so many on the site. Let us know how you do!

Having a difficult time with deficid, Pain under my ribs, cramps BM all over the place, nausea, Oh I will call the DR .
Discussing FMT I have 2 choices Standard doner or my doner. My husband is not e god candidate , so standard doner Mayo clinic I guess will be the choice.
Thank you so much.

Sorry you are not getting relief of symptoms but in my opinion , if no antibiotic for CDiff doesn't seems to help you , it means that something else is happening inside your gut and you need to be tested for other illneses too , not just for Cdiff. You should talk to your GI and ask if you could get tested for : SIBO , IBD , other pathogens .

100% agree with Georgina, there's no case of c.diff that does not respond to Vancomycin/dificid, it might return after treatment but always responds during treatment. (Minor inconvenient symptoms might remain)
If you do not respond to vanco/dificid it could be something else.
C.diff meds typicaly kick in between day 4 and 7 and the meds do not just switch off the symptoms, your gut has to recover and repair, that takes time.
