Re: Happy birthday to me! <sobs>
1) Happy birthday in spite of this monster.
2) I'm a Board-Certified pediatrician. I am not, however, YOUR pediatrician and I cannot give medical advice online.
That said, while safety studies for lactation in humans have not been performed, animal studies show that fidaxomicin concentration in the breastmilk are below the threshold of detection. In these situations we must weigh the risks against the benefits and I think that the risk of using fidaxomicin in breastfeeding is vanishingly small.
Now, remember, I am neither your doctor nor your child's. You don't even really *know* that I'm a doctor. But if you'd like I can try to call up the manufacturer and see if I can't get their animal data. :-)

Hi Kristin! Happy birthday, I wish you were feeling better!
Dificid cured me (currently, anyway), I am 8 months out *woot woot*
I first took vancomycin but my reaction to it was very severe. So I got stuck in a weird limbo world with C. diff colitis for a MONTH (at the end I wasn't even going anymore, except blood and mucus it was beyond horrible). Thank God there is an exceptional C. diff expert in my area who got me on Dificid.
If I were you (I am not giving medical advice), I would get on Dificid either the 10 day regimen, or if the doctor will prescribe it a Dificid pulse. And be sure to include florastor, a high quality probiotic and probiotic/prebiotic foods (that you can handle).
I'm around so feel free to message me anytime. Sending prayers and good thoughts!
