Bobbie, I see the paperwork you're talking about. Maybe this is why it's been 2 months and I haven't heard anything about a fecal transplant. He's still in process with all that paperwork! :)

I am really looking forward to a transplant. I hope it comes sooner rather than later.

I was setting up an appointment for Mikayla with Dr. Surawicz for her IBS, and we started talking about the FMT and the FDA new ruling. She informed me that their office is one of the only offices in the city of Seattle to have FDA approval. Possibly because she is the head of two major hospitals, not sure..well anyway I guess a trip to Seattle for a FT is better then none at all.

And hello all, still on vacation until August 30th. Take Care!:)

Any possibility that the pharmaceutical industry had influenced the FDA in their decision to regulate FM treatments? Just curious.

I've wondered about that myself and would not be the least bit surprised.

bethh22, I recently had a conversation with an FNP that works mainly under a G.I. physician about FMTs. They had only treated one patient that had relapsed seven times with c diff. First treatment with FMT and they were cured. She was very positive with the treatment but commented that she didn't see it being used much in the future because there was no money to be made.

That's true, Bobbie. I can't find the article but it spoke of how much power pharma has over the decisions that the fda and our elected officials make. Their industry is one of highest profiting industries in the world. It's ranked with the oil and financial industries.
