For those who cannot tolerate store bought yogurt, I read about a way to make it yourself so you can get the good bacteria without the lactose. If you have a yogurt maker, make sure you ferment it for 24 hours or more. That way the yogurt starter can have time to eat up all the lactose.
There are several sites online that show you how to make yogurt without even having a yogurt maker (all you need is a pan, yogurt starter, a thermometer and a heating pad).
