Re: New Treatment for recurrent CDI - good news!
SER-109 is now known as Vowst for marketing puposes. I am hoping to try it, as I am having another recurrence of C. Difficile. I cannot get a transplant in my area, so either Rebyota or Vowst (I prefer Vowst if I can find a prescriber) are the only options. Vowst is in pill form, and is much simpler to administer. It is extremely expensive, $15,400 US without insurance, and there is little or no coverage now. I am in a difficult situation. I have asthma and get frequent upper respiratory infections that are treated with antibiotics. I recently completed a 10 day course of doxycycline, and have C. Difficile again.
I hope to try the Vowst regardless of cost. The company has an assistance program, but many drug company assistance programs exclude the majority of people.

Hopefully the link works.

I am now approved for Vowst, and my health insurance will pay for most of the cost. I will let the group know how it goes. I am finishing Dificid before I start the Vowst.

Congratulations, hope you’ll soon be feeling much better. We can’t get this treatment in UK; we are so behind. FMT still only option (don’t get me wrong, v grateful for it - but pill form seems better option).
Contracted C Diff from a round of Flucloxacillin, November 2020.
Metronidazole - Metronidazole - Dificid - Dificid - Vancomycin - Upper GI FMT - Vancomycin - Vancomycin - Lower GI FMT

I imagine I won’t be able to know right away how well it works. It may take some time. Right now I also have an upper respiratory infection, but I can’t be treated with antibiotics due to C. Diff.
