OK - Cindy who posts on this board was kind enough to e-mail me a bunch of articles on C-diff for me to read. One of the medical articles was reviewed by a gentleman in San Antonio, where I just moved from - it had an e-mail address on it for him so I took a chance and e-mailed him about taking Lomotil- I just got a response- thought I would post it along with my request to him in case anyone else out there is being told to take Lomotil -- his credentials are at the end of his E-mail, the article he reviewed can be read at this link-
http://mqa.dhs.state.tx.us/qmweb/Cdif.htm

************

From: Susan Dunn [mailto: thedunnfamily@prodigy.net ]
Sent: Sunday, July 25, 2004 8:33 AM
To: James Lewis
Subject: RE: C-Diff

I just read the article you reviewed regarding C-Diff.

My doctor has just put me on 14 days of Vancomycin and Lomotil after 10 days of Flagyl and Lomotil made me no better.

Is it safe to take Lomotil ?

Everything I have read on the internet says no, but my Gastroenterologist tells me it's safe.

I am very scared, please respond if you can, thank you

Susan Dunn
************************
----- Original Message -----
From: James Lewis
To: Susan Dunn
Sent: Monday, July 26, 2004 9:46 AM
Subject: RE: C-Diff

Ms. Dunn,

Which article are you referring to? Personally I would avoid the Lomotil while taking the vancomycin. However this is something that you should really discuss with your gastroenterologist and provide him/her with the literature that you have found. If you are uncomfortable with your gastroenterologist a second opinion may be in order.

Good Luck,

James S.
