A taper is when you reduce the daily amount of vanco slowly but there's always some vanco in your system.

A pulse is where you take vanco one day, let it eliminate from your system for one or two days and then take it again
Gradualy lengthening the time between doses
Sometimes a pulse doseing will continue untill you are on one pill a week
C.diff is intelligent.
If it's under attack from meds it formed a spore.
When it detects the attack is over it vegitates so it can multiply.
The gap between doses fools it into thinking it's safe so it hatches and the next pulse dose gets it.
It seems a very effective method of treating.

Very happy you got in with him, he is great with CDIFF and understands what we go though. I was on a Dificid taper when I finally got in to see him. We did all the donor blood work and were set to go forward with an FMT but I didn't need it!! Hoping the taper works for you. It has taken me time after all these medications for me to feel better but you will get there!
Thanks for the update

Hi nickii52. My 14 yo daughter tolerated a full course plus a taper of Dificid with no side effects that we were able to determine. And it started working for her right away. And it has kept C diff away for over 100 days now. We were headed towards an FMT as well but so far fingers crossed. :) Good luck!
