Re: didicid taper
Hi
I am sure others will jump in here, several have been on a 1 month Dificid taper, look under CDI you may find it there.
I was on a 3 month taper but we used a taper from a research study ( I had relapsed 4 times) and was rather desperate at the time. I can't post here and believe it gave me severe Post IBS for over a year.
I am sure you will hear from others

Re: didicid taper
On the thread below you mentioned you were doing well a few days ago. If symptoms have started again, often it can be Post IBS. Check with your GI, if you want to test you need to wait a few weeks since you just completed your taper. Recovery can take time and there are other medication options if you have post IBS.
Also diet can play a factor after a long taper, I started off with a bland diet and worked slowly adding foods. It all takes time to heal.
I hope you feel better soon!

Re: didicid taper
Nickii,
Your nearly done with a long taper which is GREAT! This may be it for you as it has worked for some many!
As far as eating, I continued with the ABD pain and also had difficulty eating for quite some time. For some of us the healing takes longer but you may be well on your way. I also used a heating pad for the ABD pain and the tightness which often came after eating anything.
I understand the fear of relapse after you have had so many but hopefully as the days pass you will feel better.
It can take some time. I stayed on a bland diet of chicken(baked), rice, cooked spinach, eggs, toast, baked potatoes and slowly added other foods. I also drank Kefir and continued on my VSL#3. This really helped in my recovery

Re: dificid taper
I would find another GI. Once someone has relapsed a few times they need to consider DIficid or FMT. Sometimes it can be more difficult to find a GI who does FMT but Dificid is readily available here in the states. It can be a battle with insurance because it is very expensive and some MD's do not want to fight for it.
Getting a second opinion my be the answer for you, I sadly changed GI's 3 times during my 10 months of treatment. I went in with my complete CDIFF history detailed in writing, all medication I have been on so they knew what I was up against.
Wishing you the best
