when I was on one of my Vanco rounds and was switched to Dificid, my doctor said it was ok to stop the Vanco and start the Dificid in the same day but didn't instruct me to be on both at the same time, no.

I think with your sensitive condition and so many relapses/failed treatments, you should really try to consult with a place or doctor who specializes in cdiff. Like a cdiff expert. Even if you have to travel...

What method of transplant did you have done? Have you spoke to your doctors about doing a top down method with a colonoscopy and follow up with enemas. I know my doctor uses all of these on some patients who have a bad case. He will do the egd ( tube down to small intestines) with colonoscopy and follow up enemas and fecal pills. His thinking is that Cdiff sometimes resides in the small intestine and you may need a top down method. I also have read a post on here where someone took both of those medicines together .

I would not take them together, unless a C. diff specialist or ID dr. specifically recommended it. I was recently told by one of each type of dr. that it is not a good idea to combine vanco with another antibiotic.
If your illness was preceded by use of a medication, e.g., an antibiotic, please fill out an FDA Adverse Event Report at http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm

The method of transplant the Doctor used was nasogastric tube. Plus, I have done Mutiple enemas, and twice made homemade pills! I am really interested in Who your doctor is, and in what city he or she resides? Thanks. Both vanco and dificid are not obsorbed into the body (mostly these drugs are retained in feces.)

Read the FMT forum. Some specialists recommend not doing the NG method as it can contribute to SIBO. See the post titled Warning.

Since your case is complicated, I would seek several opinions from different doctors. I have never heard of Dificid and Vanco. used at the same time.

I'm sorry for your multiple problems. Do some research on your situation (altho. I am sure you have.) Have your kidney doctor and your GI conferred about your condition? I am sure more people will post about the NG method.

I am sure more people will weigh in. Best of luck to you and I hope we can help you find something to help your condition - although none of us are in the medical field. Our information is from our experience only. I don't remember having a dialysis patient post in before and have been on the site over l5 years.

Hang in there. I can see why you are tired and looking for different answers. Keep us informed. Our prayers and good wishes.

My doctor is David Shepard at RDS Infusions in Tampa Fl. You can google for the website. He does offer phone consults and is a great doctor.

I had two ng transfers that did not help me at all. I subsequently had a colonoscopy transfer and it did get rid of the c diff until I took Cipro. I did get a lot of IBS after the transfer though. When I relapsed after the Cipro, I was treated, relapsed two more times and then had a colonoscopy transfer and an upper endoscopy transfer at the same time. I was not able to hold in the colonoscopy tranfer well, but nonetheless, the procedure was successful. I did test positive a few times, but the symptoms were very mild and I only took Pepto Bismol. I have not tested positive for a few years. You might check with your doctors about doing either a colonoscopy or a double procedure. did you use the same donor each time? I started off with my husband, but used my daughter for the last one.

I also did enemas recently because I had to take Levaquin for a URI and my GI told me to take vanco along with it. Vanco never agreed with me and I still feel it is partly to blame for all my relapses. When I stopped the meds, I did about 6 or 7 enemas and so far so good as far as the c diff goes. I still have SIBO though.
