Antibiotic Shot vs. Oral Antibiotics

Postby Brittany » Thu Jan 28, 2010 1:26 pm

I'm wondering if anyone knows whether a shot of antibiotics administered in the muscle would be less likely to cause relapse than taking a week or so of oral antibiotics? My doctor assures me that the shot bypasses the gut, thus there is little chance of relapse. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I have heard this as well but do not know if it is true. I know at times they will do IV antibiotics to pass the gut so I assume a shot might as well. Not sure...
