colostrum

Postby beth22 » Sun Jan 17, 2010 10:16 pm

My ID doctor recommended using bovine colostrum for my PI-IBS symptoms. These are some type of antibodies from cows. I looked it up and yes, it is used to treat various gastro problems, but there are different types and I'm not sure which to get. Before I get any, I was wondering if anyone has tried this, if it was helpful, and if there were any side effects. Since it is derived from milk, I don't know if I can even use it, but I am willing to give it a try. He said I could get it at the health food store. Does anyone know anything about this stuff?

There is an article posted by Bobbie in Media reports May 1, 2007 called C difficlile can be halted by natural bovine colostrum supplement.

If you type colostrum into search, you should be able to find it.

Beth,
I also found this old thread discussion. I would be interested in learning more, seems like it may be helpful.

Interesting. I went to the Vitamin Shoppe and bought one by Symbiotics that is supposed to be suitable for people with a lactose-free diet. Hope it helps. I'm not having very good days. Am two weeks post meds.

I bought it and it is still sitting on my shelf. I wanted to wait until my intestines settled down a bit, but that did not happen. Yesterday I started back on vanco and feel better today, so I will try the colostrum this weekend.
