Tetracycline protecting against c diff?

Postby Mia-Mia » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:10 am

i just read an older article by a Dr Zalman S Agus Md. Professor at University of pennsylvania school of medicine. He quotes a Sanfrancisco study that states . Though antibiotic exposure typically increase the risk of C diff colitis. Tetracycline may protect against it. Has anyone heard about this? i thought Tetracycline was one of the bad ones?

Tetracycline is similar to doxycicline and both are listed as less likely to cause c diff. I have read that the earlier strains from years ago were less potent and could sometimes be treated with other antibiotics, but that is not so true any more.
