IBS vs. c.diff

Postby chrissy72 » Fri Aug 21, 2009 1:15 pm

I definitely have IBS pos flagyl(I'm about a week over the flagyl).

I knwo IBS can be described as alternating bouts of D and C. But can you have a small amt of D (quarter size amount plus a normal BM) at one time for it to be considered IBS or does that sound like a relapse of c.diff? This doesn't happen every time in the bathroom but when I start I think its going to be D and then the BM is actually normal.

Every one is different, but it takes most people a while to normalize the stools and sometimes they aren't the same as pre-c diff. For a few weeks after taking meds you can pretty much see anything. I also had what you describe post c diff, usually the D part was at the end though, not at the beginning. Give it some time, ask your doctor if in doubt, but unless you get the symptoms like when you had c diff it sounds pretty normal after what your intestines have been through.
