So,
I had a baby 2 weeks ago and ended up with a nasty UTI which I am still on Macrobid for. I have been dizzy since having my son. My ears have been hurting and come to find out I have a double inner ear infection. My doctor is afraid to treat me because he does not want me to blame him if I get CDIFF again. Does anyone know what would be "safe" to take? He said it is my call. I originally got CDIFF from 2 rounds of Augmentin from an inner ear infection. Please help me! I have felt like I am going to pass out for 2 weeks. Has anyone had success on an antibiotic after CDIFF for this? I have not seen anything that is considered safe. I have tried natural remedies but no such luck! Thanks everyone!
From a sleep deprived and exhausted and dizzy new Mommy!

Hi Nicole,
what does the doc say, which other ABs would be an option? This choice is not a call you can make yourself. Have you seen an ear-nose-throat specialist or whatever they are called in the States? Can you go see a specialist and take the list of recommendes ABs from the site here? Maybe pen G would work? Have never had an ear infection, no idea what kind of bacteria usually causes this.
Over here in Germany, when kids get that kind of thing, people often put half a raw onion on the ear over night. Sounds bizarre but seems to help sometimes...

Hi Nicole,
First of all Congrats on the new baby! Second and I am really sorry if this comes across as being cold, but your question is one that you should really be asking your doctor. If the Dr you have now is "afraid" to treat you for your infections because he/she is "afraid that your going to blame him" if you get cdiff again? My advice to you is to find a new Dr because the one you are describing doest sound to me as a very good Dr. Any doctor in my opinion who is "afraid" to treat a patient becasue he/or she is "afraid" of being blamed for something should have there license pulled and they should not be a Dr. Dr's are "suppost" to help you and not work aginst you.
I am so sorry that I dont have better answers for you and I really hope that you start feeling better soon!
Good Luck!

Every time my mother gets a UTI (chronic)...I know you are being treated for that and have a double ear infection...she takes flagyl along w/the antibiotic to prevent C Diff. It's worked very well for her, and she gets them at least once a month, so she pretty much lives on the flagyl. I don't know how she can stand it, but she's a tough cookie. I will take vanco the next time I must have an antibiotic infection..I don't want to revisit C Diff ever again in my life. Wishing you the best...Karen
