This PCP of mine is a Navy Officer veteran of over 20 years however he is actually a FNP! So now I come clean....He is the one who first suspected and got me treated ASAP for C DIFF back in Marc-Apr... He was the one who admitted me also he was the one who gave me Cipro just in case of D in the Middle East when I traveled! He communicated and treated me on the phone and thru email while I was half way around the world for 32 days plus! The Cipro again may have saved me from lots of money and and ill fate! POint is I trust him I don t know if I should or what? He knows about C Diff well unlike the many herer i read whose DOCs have no idea or clue what it is? Oh well!

He sounds like a good guy. If you feel you should trust him then go with your gut. I have been through hell with Dr.'s literally as most have and it continues to this day. I've got to say I think I trust my PCP about 10% of the time.I really dislike him. If I am in question which is almost always, I get a second opinion.Thankfully, I know a very smart nurse who works in one of the best hospitals in Boston who usually steers me in the right direction. My GI Dr. on the other hand I trust 99.9% of the time. I think after you know and deal with someone for a long time you have a good feel as to whether or not they are trustworthy. Plus if they stick with you through thick and thin they are keepers!

Vike:

I agree with Christina whole heartedly...trust your gut feelings. I changed my PCP to a Nurse Practicioner a couple of years ago and trust him 100%. He knows his limitations and doesn't hesistate to refer you to a specialist if he's not comfortable with the situation. He also has personal experience with C-diff in his family. If you add to the mix that we've worked together for years,it's a great honest relationship that I feel fortunate to have, that's not to say we don't bump heads at times. Bottom line for me is if you're comfortable with his skills, stay put. It takes too much time to break somebody else in.
