I also got Cdiff from taking Clindamycin after detal work. There has to be something else that you can take. Can you just have the tooth pulled? I know that most Dentist wont pull a tooth if it is infected but, some do (here in my town anyway) maybe you could go to another dentist? I was told that once the tooth is pulled the infection itself is gone also. I am not a Dr or a dentist so I dont know how true that is, if at all. Oh my god I feel sorry for you, try and calm down there just has to be something that they can do other than the Clindamycin.
Let us know how things go.

I would think if they pulled the tooth you could use an antibiotic mouth rinse for the gums. It would take longer to clear the infection but if you swish and spit you will have little or no absorbtion. I was going to use one for strep throat but it turned out the test was negative. Sorry, I can't remember the name of it but your dentist would know. They can't force you to take it. Be assertive! I'd rather be missing a tooth than to have to deal with c-diff again.
Taking Vanco with an antibiotic is not any type of gaurantee of C-diff protection. In fact, my GI Dr. does not recommend it.

Oh Lordy!!! I spoke with the ID doc and he said I should be fine taking it with the Vanco.....I depend on my smile and do not want to lose any teeth, especially at 38 years old!!!! Guess I will unfortunatley bite the bullet and give it a whirl.....I've already been on Keflex with the Vanco and Levaquin with the Vanco and am o.k. I am now gonna have mega panic attacks, just cross our fingers I don't end up in the hospital!!! Also, I am upping Culturelle, Primal Defense, and acidolphulus while on the 6 day course of clindamycin.......oh crap......Why me???? Boo Hoo

Clindamycin for dental work is also how I got cdiff. My regular dentist prescribed it. It really didn’t seem to do much, but I dutifully took all that was prescribed for me. The next week I got the specialist who was doing the root canal and he said I really didn’t need the Clindamycin as what was going to clear up my infection was the root canal. (?)
I don’t know about taking Vanco and Flagyl together. I guess if the pharmacist said it was OK, it should be, but what does the ID doctor say? (I’m not sure I would want to take Flagyl again, ever, with those nasty side effects.)
And yes, that is a good idea also loading up on those probiotics. But it is this darn wait, watch, and worry disease. I’ll keep good thoughts for you that all will work out fine.
