When I had my update with my GI doc the other day I asked him if c.diff fed on sugar. He didn't think so but he said they did know that it fed on sucrolose, which seems to be in alot of the new waters that have flavoring. I didn't ask about aspartame (equal) because I do use that in my tea. I wonder what else to stay away from. Surcolose causes me to have stomach aches and gas anyway so I have always stayed away from that as alot of people on this list do but just thought I would share the info anyway.

nikki,
Have always read C. diff. feeds on excess sugar.. Don't know much about the subs. for sugar, but have read something about the "new" sugar in sports drinks causing some problems -- can't remember what type of problems, however.
To be safe, try water. If you can't stand the test of plain, try flavoring it with lemon or lime.
