Hi Everyone,
I have noticed that two different sources show conflicting information about Keflex (Cephalexin) being a cause of C diff.
The antibiotics FAQon this site lists it as one of the top offenders while a study I found on medscape lists non-third generation cephalosporins as intermediate. Keflex is 1st generation.
Also they list Cipro as likely, whereas the faq on this site lists as intermediate.
Does anyone know why this might be?

Any cephalosprin is on my list. Warnings in the PDR include: do not take if you have or have had intestinal problems and/or colitis. Also it can cause a resistant overgrowth of bacteria. If you develop diarrhea do not take any antidiarrheal medications as it will make symptoms worse. The number one side effect is diarrhea.
Keflex=cephalexin hydrochloride or Keftab
